Using cases, the focus of this session will be on organizing the approach to a pre-travel assessment in order to reduce the risk of infectious disease acquisition in travelers. Common post-travel conditions will be examined. An emphasis will be on high quality resources available in the in primary care setting. Upon completion, attendees should be better prepared to:
- Organize the pre-travel assessment in adults including immunizations, malaria prevention, and traveler's diarrhea;
- Identify emerging infectious disease conditions in returning travelers;
- Optimize the use of travel medicine resources.
